As media studies
Evaluation

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My magazine does not follow conventions as a traditional magazine would have the title at the top with a picture and some information about what is inside and other pictures that are reflected on the inside of the magazine. my magazine has one picture dominating the front page with a title at the top and a rhetorical question close to the bottom in a large black banner i wanted to use this so it would look effetive and draw the readers in. There is no barcode or price on the front of my magazine as i wanted to keep it as plain as possible so the barcode will be on the back cover of the magazine.

2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?

The main social groups are age, gender and race. Age is split into other smaller sections such as children, teenagers and aduts. Gender can be seperated into males and females. Race is categorised by peoples religion; this could be Christianity or Hinduism. My magazine is aimed at teenagers and mainly females, this is two social groups. For my magazine race is not an issue as the product should appeal to all teenage girls no matter what their religion as long as they like indie music.

3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

My magazine would be sold at a shop that sells music magazines so if a customer was going into a shop to get a magazine then my product would also be found in that place. Another place that would be a good are to sell my music magazine would be in an indie music shop as this would be a good place to get potential customers to notice my product.

4. Who would be the audience for your media product?

For my media music magazine project the audience would be teenagers that are interested in the Indie music scene. My product is also more aimed at females so this would also be a target audience.

5. How did you attract/address your audience?

my product attracts its target audience by having a simple front cover that will draw the reader in and make them want to see more of the magazine. the contents page model has the same style as most of the target audience so this should help to appeal to them.

6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

from this project i have learnt how to use the website www.blogger.com before my project i had not heard of this site. Although i did have the knowledge of using other social networking sites such as www.bebo.com i had to learn all the features on blogger from scratch and i feel that i have learnt how to work it well and if i had to use it again any time in the future then i would not have a problem doing this. i have also learnt how to use different features on my digital camera that i have not needed to use before now, such as the timer, this has helped me a lot in the development of my product and will also be useful in the future.

7. looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

In my progression from the preliminary task to the full product i feel that i have learnt how to manage my time better. On the full project my time was managed well as all of my work was completed to the deadline, however on my preliminary task the work had to be handed in a day after the deadline this was because i had not managed my time well. i feel that i have also learnt how to use different software to the best of my ability such as fireworks and publisher to make my products look better and more appealing to the customer.
